COMMUNITY NOTICE: OPEN BURNING SAFETY REMINDER

Dear Residents,

As we move into the season where outdoor burning becomes more common, we kindly ask for your cooperation in helping keep our community safe.

If you are planning any type of open burning (including yard waste, brush, grass, or recreational fires where the currently burning laws apply), please ensure you contact the McLeese Lake Volunteer Fire Department, by phone,(250-302-2957) or email (mcleeselakefd0911@gmail.com) in ADVANCE to notify us of your plans and to ensure we can confirm burning is permitted at that time.

This simple step helps percent unnecessary emergency responses and ensures that all burning activities are conducted safely and in accordance with current regulations.

We also encourage everyone to:

Check the weather report for the day noting wind conditions

Check the venting index map at: https://governmentofbc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=6d288bc667b24528a5c1e3b4c0373d07

*Check current fire restrictions or bans before burning

*Check to see if you are required to have a burning permit in place before doing any burning

*Keep fires small and manageable

*Never leave a fire unattended

*Have water and proper extinguishing tools

Your cooperation helps protect our homes, our neighbours and our surrounding environment.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

Sincerely,

McLeese Lake Volunteer Fire Dept.
